Overview

What AsciiDoc Pro provides, its requirements, and where to start.

On this page

AsciiDoc Pro provides live rendering, smart completion, inspections, table tools, diagrams, refactoring, Antora support, and multi-format export for AsciiDoc documents.

Requirements#

IDE compatibility: IntelliJ IDEA 2025.3.1+. Check the Marketplace list for other editions and their supported versions.

The documented release is 2026.2.19. Its Marketplace compatibility starts at IntelliJ Platform build 253.29346. Check the Marketplace compatibility list for your IDE edition and version before installing.

Basic editing and the bundled Asciidoctor.js preview do not require a Ruby installation. External PDF export can use asciidoctor-pdf; DOCX, Markdown, and RST conversion can require Pandoc. Diagram rendering may use configured PlantUML/Mermaid support or a Kroki service. Antora workflows need the site’s own dependencies.

Start here#

Install AsciiDoc Pro, then follow Editing and preview. The configuration reference explains where to adjust the behavior for your project.

Current limitations#

The preview is not a full deployment of every Asciidoctor extension or Antora site. Secure mode deliberately prevents includes. Diagram services and external converters have separate availability and fidelity limits; review exports with the same attributes and assets used for publication.
