Editing, refactoring, and projects
Create an application and safely restructure Slint source.
Create a project#
Choose File → New → Project → Slint. Select Rust, C++, Node.js, Python, or embedded Rust, an exact Slint version, and a widget style. Review the destination; the generator requires an empty location and does not install dependencies without review.
Install the generated project’s host dependencies, then run its normal build configuration. Project creation does not install Rust, CMake, Node.js, or Python for you.
Edit with language assistance#
Use completion and quick documentation for properties and callbacks. Color literals have clickable swatches; image and font paths provide gutter previews. Find Usages and Rename cover local and imported declarations. Use Optimize Imports after restructuring.
Extract a reusable component#
Select one complete element subtree and choose Refactor → Extract Slint Component…. Review the new component name and typed properties promoted to its input. The operation rejects partial selections, unresolved types, outer callbacks, writes, two-way bindings, and other dependencies that cannot be moved safely.
For layout changes, select complete sibling elements and use Code → Surround With to introduce a supported layout wrapper. Review diagnostics and Designer output after any source transformation. Compiler-backed feedback remains authoritative.
