Configuration

Settings, tools, and project configuration for LaTeX Pro.

On this page

Compiler defaults#

Open Settings → Tools → LaTeX. Choose Automatic, latexmk, Tectonic, or a direct engine. Set executable paths when the tools are not on the IDE’s PATH. The engine choice for pdfLaTeX, XeLaTeX, or LuaLaTeX applies to classic TeX builds; Tectonic uses its own engine.

Project overrides#

Use LaTeX → Project for the project root, main file, and output directory. These paths are project-relative and must remain inside the project. An explicit main file avoids ambiguity in repositories containing several documents. The main file’s directory is the normal build working directory unless a project root is specified.

Editor and preview#

The Editor and Preview settings control authoring and PDF display. Choose single-page or continuous-document display, continuous rebuilding, and whether the PDF follows the source caret. Enable SyncTeX generation for source/PDF navigation.

Bibliography and conversion#

Use Bibliography for external bibliography libraries, and Conversion for Pandoc or Morph paths. Choose the bibliography processor expected by the document: classic BibTeX and BibLaTeX/Biber have different requirements.

Shell escape#

Shell escape is disabled by default. Enable it only when a trusted document requires running external programs; the plugin warns before execution. Ordinary language editing and most documents do not need it.
