Troubleshooting

The compiler is not found#

Check latexmk -v or tectonic --version in a terminal, then configure the full executable path under Tools → LaTeX. An explicit backend does not silently switch to another tool.

The wrong document builds#

Use Mark as LaTeX Main File on the intended root and inspect LaTeX → Project. Check % !TeX root comments in included files. Explicit project settings take precedence over inferred roots.

SyncTeX jumps incorrectly#

Enable SyncTeX generation and rebuild. Keep the PDF and its .synctex.gz together with matching basenames. Stale mappings or paths outside configured source/output roots are rejected.

Citations remain unresolved#

Check that the .bib file is reachable from the active document and that the build uses BibTeX or Biber as expected. Rebuild the full document so bibliography passes run.

Report an issue#

Use email support and include:

• Your IDE edition and full build number from Help → About.
• The installed plugin version; this manual covers 2026.1.14.
• Relevant external-tool versions, the failing action, and a small reproducible example.
• The error message and relevant log excerpt, with credentials and private project data removed.

Use Help → Show Log in Finder/Explorer to locate IDE logs when requested. Describe what you expected to happen and whether the same operation works from a terminal.
