Writing and live preview

Create a Typst document and keep rendered output beside source.

On this page

Create a document#

Create main.typ:

#set document(title: "Project notes")
= Project notes

A small document with *emphasis* and a formula: $a^2 + b^2 = c^2$.

Open the live preview and allow Tinymist to start. The heading and formula should render beside the source. Edit a sentence and confirm that the preview updates before introducing more complex project structure.

Use bidirectional synchronization to keep source and rendered content connected. Moving the editor caret updates the preview position, and clicking rendered content navigates back to its source. Configure synchronization under Tools → Typst → Preview if it is distracting for your workflow.

Use authoring tools#

The Generate menu provides headings, formatting, links, lists, and table insertion. Use the visual table-size chooser, then table context-menu actions to add or delete rows and columns. Structure view follows document headings.

Fenced raw code blocks support language injection for many installed languages. Add a language tag to get appropriate highlighting and assistance. Spelling and grammar checks apply to prose, headings, comments, and strings without treating Typst code as ordinary text.
