Slidev and reveal.js

Preview presentation projects alongside their source.

On this page

Open a presentation project#

For Slidev, open the project containing its Markdown deck, dependencies, and configuration. For reveal.js, open the HTML deck and any external Markdown it references. Install project dependencies using the same package manager the project already uses.

Configure detection and startup#

Open Settings → Tools → Markdown Pro → Presentations. Check the detected deck entry, development script, optional custom preview URL, and save-while-typing behavior. Use the project’s installed tools rather than assuming a global Slidev executable.

Slidev previews use the actual deck, including imported slides, themes, and Vue components. reveal.js previews retain the deck’s plugins, theme, notes, and separators. Static reveal.js decks can be served locally without a separate development server.

Verify the deck#

Open the preview beside the source, move between slides, and edit a title. Confirm that the expected slide updates and that local images resolve. If an external Markdown file opens without its surrounding reveal.js deck, set the deck entry explicitly so the renderer knows which HTML document owns it.

For a failed preview, start the configured development script in a terminal first. A missing dependency or a bad deck configuration must be corrected in the presentation project. Review the deck in its normal browser workflow before distributing it.
